Goods with poor quality
NEWS ON THE ACTIVITIES OF DESTROYING SPOILED QUALITY GOODS
Nine hundred and forty cartons of the Marlboro-branch cigarettes were destroyed by being burnt down on May 3rd , 2002, under the leadership of Mr. Chan Veasna, chief of the Sihanoukville-based Camcontrol branch, in compliance with a criminal judgment No. 04 dated January 17th , 2002, issued by the Sihanoukville court. Also attending the ceremony to burn down the spoiled quality goods were Mr. Mom Mith, prosecutor of the Sihanoukville court, Mr. So Bun Noeun, deputy chief of the Sihanoukville police department, and officials representing a number of competent institutions involved.
Mr. Chan Veasna, chief of the Sihanoukville-based Camcontrol branch, said the 940 cartons of the Marlboro-brand cigarettes which were destroyed were falsified cigarettes with spoiled quality which were discovered and detained on March 16th , 2001. Mr. Chan Veasna further said the skilled unit had to destroy such goods with spoiled quality to prevent it from being circulated at the markets, which might seriously affect consumer health. Therefore, in order to enforce the Law on the Management of the Quality and Safety of Products and Services more effectively, Camcontrol officials have so far made their all-out efforts in regularly inspecting all kinds of the imported goods as well as keeping close watch on goods being in circulation at the markets so as to prevent and remove to a maximum level kinds of goods which may affect consumer health and safety.
Mr. Chan Veasna also requested all the importer companies to pay heeds to the importation of their goods products in compliance with the rules and regulations and other laws, especially the Law on the Management of the Quality and Safety of Products and Services, which is an important factor in contributing to protecting consumer safety, welfare and their economic benefits.
