Codex Contact Point

With regard to Quality control, The Cambodia Import-Export Inspection and Fraud Repression Directorrate-General "CAMCONTROL" is being the National Contact Point for Codex Alimentarius, focusing its main efforts in the enforcement of quality and safety of products and services through the establishment of food standards and specification and labeling requirement.

The main responsibility is to consider technical and related issues and to formulate advice to the Royal Government of Cambodia, it serves as means of communication linkage between Codex Secretariat and each member country. In the meanwhile the Codex Contact Point is the center for each country to collect and analyze data which are obtained from all agencies concerned.

There are two reasons for the establishment of the Codex Contact Point. Firstly, there is a need for a local and coordination point for Codex activities. Secondly, the Codex secretariat in Rome also needs a permanent point of contact through which all Codex communications can be handled.
